Consumer Unit Upgrades
Youngman electrical has many years experience with new build and extensions to existing properties. We work closely with builders and you the client from start to hand over to ensure complete satisfaction.
Domestic installer scheme (part P) is the NICEIC approval for contractors undertaking work within the scope of part P of building regulations
First Fix (Before Plastering)
Cables are installed and accessory boxes are fixed into position.
Second Fix (After Plastering)
Accessories such as lighting pendants, sockets and switches are then installed.
Testing and Certification
Before the installation is handed over to the client it must be tested to ensure electrical safety. Certification will then be issued.
A consumer unit (Fuse Board) is the main distribution point for all the electrics in your property, it contains the necessary safety devices to make your installation safe.
If you have an old type consumer unit with rewireable fuses, or a plastic cased consumer unit it is recommended that these are upgraded for safety and are more convenient to reset in the event of a fault. Modern consumer units are protected by RCD/MCB which means that they will operate quickly in the event of an overloaded circuit (MCB) or an earth fault (RCD) therefore diffusing the risk of an electrical shock.

Rewiring can be more of a challenge than new build type properties due to moving of furniture, rolling back of carpets and lifting of floorboards in order to gain access to floor void and run new cabling.
Youngman electrical has many years experience carrying out rewiring and causing little disruption to your home as possible.
Rewires are usually carried out in 1 of 2 ways:
The cables are chased into the walls and then plastered over so nothing can be seen on the outside of the wall.
Or
The cables are run in surface trunking on the outside of the wall.
We are able to carry out all rewiring with the property still occupied.
